Toe Valley and Mount Mitchell Vacation Rental Cabins -- the best of North CarolinaWe offer premier and luxury vacation rental accommodations in one of the most dramatic areas of the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, with Mount Mitchell as a backdrop more than 3500' higher than the valley floor. We have basic cabins where you bring your own linens, up to luxury log homes with Bob Timberlake Decor. Most of our homes have either grand views, or river frontage, or golf course frontage. We have great fly-fishing here in the South Toe River and the feeder tributaries in the Black Mountain range. You won't go wrong, we'll find an accommodation that meets your needs. Located in the beautiful South Toe Valley, and at the base of Mount Mitchell, highest peak in the eastern US, we are just 2 miles off the gorgeous Blue Ridge Parkway at mile post 344 and about half way between Burnsville and Marion on NC80.
The Toe Valley is surrounded by tens of thousands of acres of the Pisgah National Forest on many sides, the Blue Ridge Parkway on the south, and Mount Mitchell State Park is only about 2 miles (as the crow flies, 1/2 hour by road). As a result, almost every property in the valley is less than 1/4 mile from national forest lands, or other public lands. Through the center runs the pristine waters of the South Toe River, which its sources high on the slopes of Mount Mitchell. You'll find terrific trout fishing (especially fly fishing) --- from the headwaters in Pisgah National Forest with its native brook trout which may be taken only on a fly, to the Burnsville area where it broadens into a major river with tubing, canoeing, rafting and wonderful summer swimming holes. One of our favorite locations to enjoy these activities is at the Carolina Hemlocks Regional Recreation area operated by the Pisgah National Forest.
Because of our proximity to the Penland School of Crafts, the valley has become home to many world-class artisans in glass, metal work, paper, and the visual arts. Their galleries and workshops are scattered all through the valley, and the Toe River Arts Council operates galleries in both Burnsville and Spruce Pine which feature artists from the area. We have perhaps the highest concentration of crafts professionals in the world.

In planning your visit, you may need to know that its about 50 minutes drive to the Asheville Airport, 2 1/2 hours to Charlotte, and 3 hours to Knoxville, TN. We're about 70 minutes to the Tri-cities airport at Bristol/Johnson City TN.
